Early ISCNE gathering honoring CH Red Sails of Salamagundi at Charles River Kennel Club
Irish Setter Club of New England is proud to be the first Irish Setter club established in the United States.
On November 14, 1928 a group of New Englanders gathered to organize our club as the Irish Setter Club of Massachusetts. Realizing that interest was not limited to a single state, the name was changed to Irish Setter Club of New England and eventually incorporated as a Massachusetts non-profit. Our club is a local club under the auspices of the national club, The Irish Setter Club of America.
We endeavor to educate owners and the general public about Irish Setters. We are active in Conformation, Obedience, Rally, Hunt Tests, Canine Good Citizen testing & Agility. Our members participate in all areas of dog work including Trick Dog, Nose Work, Farm Dog, Fast CAT to name just a few. We also host fun & educational events during the year, all are welcome to attend.
ISCNE is active in our national Irish Setter rescue program. As members we are always looking out for our breed, protecting and taking care of Irish Setters in need and assisting owners in need of help.
ISCNE has hosted four ISCA National Specialties: the 9th - 1981, the 17th - 1989, 25th - 1997 and 33rd - 2005. We are proud that our nationals have created lasting memories for all who attended.
We are always happy to share our enthusiasm for our breed. We invite you to join us at any or all of our events. More information on our events can be found on the Calendar page.
